♥ Liberalism = Fall of the Church
"1. I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2. Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
3. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2 Timothy 4:1-3(KJV)
I personally adore Paul's writings, he has an amazing testimony, and an amazing love for the people and for the churches of old. 1st & 2nd Timothy I find to be a GREAT resource to use when confronting issues in a church.
I am using this particular passage for a reason. Lately I have become increasingly worried for what has been happening within the churches. I have recently been in quite liberal churches and am believing even more fervently that compromise has NEVER led to a strength in churches! It might make a church grow but for the wrong reasons.
Many churches of today have turned Jesus into a one-sided personality. "God loves you, he died for you, and if you are a good person you will be allowed into heaven." ... I'm sorry ... but that's not what MY Bible says! God's message has been twisted out of proportion!
Yes God does love every single person on this earth, and he did die for the sins of the world... BUT he is also a God of wrath and is a judge. Hell is no longer preached or it has been dumbed down, sin has been softened. There has been a huge movement to join the churches as ONE to make a unity between every religion in the world; and this wishy washy "God is a butterfly" doctrine is one that makes me want to spew out these luke warm doctrines!
"I CHARGE thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing, and his kingdom:"
Paul emphasizes the CHARGE to us Christians, so what he is about to say is extremely important. So important that he continues to say "who shall judge" Okay so what he is about to say is something the Lord will judge the churches by.
In the next verse we are told to preach the word, and be instant in and out of season. (always aware and never sleeping) we must as a church reprove, rebuke, and exhort in all longsuffering and doctrine! So as a church it is EXTREMELY important that we are preaching a clear and PURE doctrine, or we WILL be held accountable! There is NO SUCH THING as "We agree to disagree" on important details of God's word and of his commandments. That attitude makes me sick to my stomach because it never resolves an issue it just puts it aside.
Many Christians no not realize that God's word is meant to offend the soul! Most people who hear the gospel will at first be offended because it attacks their heart, their inner most being, their beloved sin that they don't want to give up at first. We should not be scared to preach the word of God and be ridiculed because of it. it is to be expected we are commanded to preach. The Christian life isn't promised to be one of roses!
God's word is manifested through preaching and it's spread by the fire in Christians hearts (if they truly love him) I would have to say that in most liberal churches there is probably more pew warmers than there are true dedicated Christians!
In verse 3 it talks about churches not receiving sound doctrine. They will not ENDURE it meaning they will have NO tolerance or patience towards it because it makes them UNCOMFORTABLE! I SHOULD HOPE SO! God's word is made to make people squirm in their chairs with conviction! It continues to say they follow their own lusts, and bring in teachers, pastors, leaders, or elders that will ONLY flatter their ears with a soft doctrine, one that has alot of loop-holes that will make them comfortable with their lives, never making them uncomfortable. Nothing that will make them feel like the dirt that God made them out of.
Many churches are bringing in the new-age theories of life. Evolution, the teaching of everything being created from a single celled organism over millions of years has influenced the church, making people believe in nonsense of a GAP THEORY! WOW I don't mean to be sarcastic but I guess the "god" you've built up in your mind isn't powerful enough to create you in the wonderous way described in the word huh? I mean in the Bible (KJV) it clearly specifies interestingly enough "The evening and the morning were the 1st day" hmmm... but of course God's lying when he says that. Christians have conformed to become accepted over the years, and it's extremely vexing. (I will do a talk on evolution)
Also the topic of OVERPOPULATION is a topic I like to laugh about... the whole population of the world itself christian scientists have calculated could fit all into the provinces Saskatchewan and Alberta if houses were put next to each-other and there were alot of apartment buildings... hmmm... sounds like another government plan to stop people from "Being fruitful and multiplying"
These are just a few of the perversions that have entered the church. I would get started on different bible versions, but I don't have time tonight to that will have to be a different entry.
In any case I really want God to look at the church with a smile, not with a frown and shaking his head, but sadly as the end-times draw nigh, he will just continue to let his wrath boil. If you are a true Christian I would suggest you pick up your Bible and believe every inch of what you read. God would NEVER lie to us. If your are a teacher reading this. I suggest you get your doctrine straight and take these verses seriously, CONSTANTLY searching for truth, because if you don't and lead your assembly down a down-hill path, the Lord will JUDGE you for that.
Thank you for reading.
