♥ The Beautitudes

Lately our Wednesday night Bible study group has been doing a study on the Beautitudes (Matthew 5: 3-12) But I am only going to put up verses 3-5 tonight. So I would like to put a bit of what i think on the subject up here. I find that this passage of Scripture should be one that is held closely to the hearts of all Christians!

One Phrase that is repeated continually through this passage is the word 'blessed' So why are they that love him called blessed?

We are blessed because:

- Of our redemption from Sin and his enduring forgiveness and love for his true people.
-Joy of eternal life and salvation!

Romans 4:6-8 "Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are they whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

- Righteousness is imputed unto us
- Our sins (iniquites) forgiven!

v.3) Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Who are the poor in spirit? What does it mean?

The poor in Spirit would equal = humbleness. So those who are humble are blessed by the Lord, being humble is one the the Christians greatest hardships, we are not supposed to be prideful. If we are I know the Lord might take you down a notch on his own which is always the hardest way to do things. Remember the Lord looketh upon the proud from afar.

James 2:5 "Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?"

Isn't that a wonderful promise everyone? Now let's move on.

v.4) Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Mourning: Sorrow for sin.

When we come to Chrisy in order to repent we must first be sorrowful for our sin thus bringing our repentance.

Godly Sorrow - Worketh for repentance. It causes us to embrace God's grace and turn away from sin.

That is why we shall be comforted by our Lord, because he sees us sorrowing for our sins, we takes away that sorrow with his never ending love and gives us eternal peace.

Christians should also find comfort through the Word of God!

v.5) Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Meek- Teachable, humble, gentle, lowly disposition.

God's people should be meek and lowly, only then can he trust our sober vigilance in the things out of this world. When he comes and rules and reigns on earth he will be giving those who have used his talents he given them and he will make them officials of cities watching over the nations of this earth!

Even in today's outlook. Christians usually and should have something normal people don't but always want... internal peace. I finally got it after i realized.. just how great my savior was and how I was an even greater sinner, but he wiped that out of his book and looks at me as clean.

Don't get me wrong we will sin, we will make mistakes, but a true believer will always repent from what he knows the Lord doesn't agree with (or at least he should or he might have some small earthly cling ons.)

Well that's it for this portion of the beatitudes... this is of course my own personal opinion alot of people might understand it in different ways... if so I would LOVE to hear them!

Talk atcha all laters!
